Summary

As a Learning Volunteer you will be assisting with our formal and informal schools programme and learning activities.

Detailed description

Main responsibilities of this role will include:


1) Supporting the museum’s Learning Officer with school visits which may entail:

  • Helping to interpret handling collection objects through discussion and discovery.
  • Assisting with role play, storytelling and dressing up activities.
  • Assisting with setting up and packing away furniture and equipment.
  • Assisting with trails both in and around the museum and the town.

2) Leading or supporting informal learning and engagement events and family activities in term and holiday time such as Discover and Make and Tiny Talk Time.


To shine in this role you will need:

  • An enthusiasm for learning and working with specifically young people and/or older adults.
  • Ability to manage groups of children with the support of the Learning Officer and schools’ staff.
  • An open and friendly attitude that is resilient and flexible.


A level of simple English is also needed for this opportunity, in particular to ensure visitor safety.
