An inclusive music programme that aims to empower neurodiverse children aged 3-11 through music therapy and creative skill building.

Detailed description

Date: Saturdays 02 November 2024 - 24 December 2024

Time: 10am -12pm


** The program will run for 2 hours between 10am-12pm, but volunteers are required to arrive at 9:00am and stay until 12:00pm, to assist with setup and cleanup **


This free music-based programme is tailored for neurodiverse children aged 3-11 to enhance social, emotional, cognitive and behavioural skills 6 sessions are divided into three 6-week cohorts with a 4-week break in between, (2 groups of children per session, 10am - Ages 3-6 and 11am - Ages 7-11). All sessions are led by a qualified Musical Therapist in High Wycombe. 

 

Key responsibilities: 

 

1. Capturing content for social media: 

  • Capturing content of the group sessions for social media 

 

2. Supporting participants: 

  • Help participants engage with the instruments and music activities, ensuring they feel comfortable and included. 
  • Provide one-on-one attention to participants who may need additional support. 
  • Encourage positive interactions between participants, promoting group cohesion. 
  • Help create a welcoming, safe, and supportive environment for all attendees. 

 

3. Assisting the music therapist and facilitators 

  • Set up and organise the music therapy space, and clean up after the during and after session (e.g. including arranging instruments and equipment. 
  • Provide logistical support to the therapist during sessions (e.g., handing out instruments, maintaining a calm environment). 
  • Help with any administrative tasks, such as tracking attendance or documenting activities. 

 

4. Observing and reporting:  

  • Observe participants during sessions to identify any concerns or breakthroughs. 
  • Report any significant observations to the music therapist and organisers for follow-up. 

 

5. Respecting Confidentiality and Professionalism: 

  • Maintain confidentiality of participants' personal and medical information. 
  • Exhibit patience, empathy, and professionalism throughout the program. 

 

Requirements: Must have enhanced DBS check, valid ID, proof of address and be aged 18+.

 

Travel/Lunch Expenses: Accessible parking and wheelchair access is available. Travel expenses and lunch will be covered for all volunteers for every shift.

 

Location: Central High Wycombe, exact address will be disclosed to approved volunteers.
