Summary

Are you a practical person who could help keep our shops in top condition, contributing to a first-class retail experience for our customers?

Detailed description

Can you donate your time to keep our shops in top condition?

Volunteers in this role help to keep our shops in top condition by carrying out general maintenance and small repairs. You may be supporting just one shop or a group of shops in your local area, to help reduce the cost of employing professional trades companies.

Ideally, you’d be able to give half a day a week or as required helping with a range of minor DIY and maintenance tasks in shops.

We are looking for caretakers for the following shops:

  • Bourne End
  • Flackwell Heath
  • Holmer Green

Main tasks

You will be helping with a range of tasks, depending on what is needed in each shop:

·      replacing overhead light tubes/bulbs

·      putting up a shelf

·      replacing a toilet seat

·      weeding the front of the shop (not gardening)

·      small painting jobs

·      small repairs

·      keeping external drains clear of leaves and debris

·      carpet cleaning after accidental spillage

·      monthly checks – emergency lights and fire doors

What are we looking for?

·      someone who has a practical and can-do approach

·      a reliable and flexible person who is practical and adaptable, and happy to turn their hand to any task that is required

·      if you are supporting more than one shop, it would be helpful if you have access to your own car

·      paint and other materials will be delivered to each shop as necessary, and any specialist tools, but it would be helpful if you can use your own tools for most jobs

What's in it for you?

  • you'll be meeting new people and making new connections in your local community
  • our volunteers talk about great satisfaction gained when completing a task, knowing that it's helped the team and improved the customer experience.
  • volunteering is a wonderful way to use your skills and keep your brain active.

About Rennie Grove Peace Hospice Care

At Rennie Grove Peace Hospice Care, our unique care provides a lifeline of compassion and support to patients, carers, and families facing progressive life-limiting illness.

We provide palliative and end of life care support, including bereavement services, within Buckinghamshire and Hertfordshire and our patient services are available to adults, as well as patients transitioning into adult services (16 to 25 years.) Bereavement support is offered for all ages to families of patients and those around them, as well as throughout the community, in schools and workplaces.

We are proud to offer care in the place that best suits the individual’s needs, whether that’s at home, in a care home, in a short stay in our inpatient unit, out in the community, or in our purpose-built Living Well Centre facilities. As a hospice care charity, we have offered this support, free of charge, for over 40 years.
