Summary
Weekend supermarket volunteers encourage food donations from customersDetailed description
At weekends, volunteers encourage food donations from customers at local, major supermarkets. Sometimes volunteers hand out flyers to shoppers but in supermarkets where such flyers are not allowed, we rely on friendly engaging smiles from volunteers, expressing our needs as people enter the store. These 'food drive' events are hugely successful and a great source of food donations.
Volunteers work in pairs, typically in shifts of 1-2 hours between 10am - 4pm, Saturday or Sunday.
What we will provide to volunteers
đź’¸ Reimbursement of costsAbout One Can Trust Food Bank
We work with local organisations, including Bucks Council and housing associations, to provide weekly food parcels to those who need our help. We have seen a huge increase in requests for our support over the last few months due to the cost of living crisis. In addition to providing food for households who are struggling, we offer a wide range of programmes including access to Free School Meals, Community Cafe sessions, Toddler Groups, Cookery course and Clothes Bank.
