Treasurer Role Description
The Treasurer is a key member of our community association, responsible for managing the association's finances and ensuring financial transparency. This role involves maintaining accurate financial records, preparing budgets, and reporting on the financial health of the association to the committee and members.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Management: Oversee the association’s finances, including managing bank accounts, processing payments, and tracking income and expenses.
- Budgeting: Develop and present annual budgets, and monitor spending to ensure alignment with financial plans.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all financial transactions and ensure compliance with relevant regulations.
- Reporting: Prepare regular financial reports for committee meetings and an annual report for the association’s AGM.
- Fundraising Support: Assist with financial planning for fundraising activities and ensure funds are properly allocated.
- Liaison: Work closely with the Chair and committee members to provide financial insights and advice to support decision-making.
- Insurance: Coordinate insurance policy renewal
Skills Required:
- Basic accounting or bookkeeping skills.
- Attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to communicate financial information clearly.
- Commitment to the community and the goals of the association.
This is a voluntary position and is essential for the smooth financial operation of our association. There are roughly 250 bank transactions per year. The role is expected to take an average of 3-4 hours per month, plus regular committee meetings.
