Summary

As a Chiltern Rangers Warden, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the safety and accessibility of our sites.

Detailed description

Our wardens are a key part of the Chiltern Rangers team. Your role would be to observe and document what is happening at Tom Burt's Hill and report back to us when necessary.

Wardens normally live close to the woodland or nature reserve that they look after or it might be a place that you visit to take a regular walk. As part of your warden role, you will be looking at

the pathways and signage as well as the overall environment. You may also make observations about plants and wildlife that you spot whilst out and about.

Tom Burt’s Hill is a Local Wildlife Site due to the variety of wildlife that can be found on the site in spite of its urban location. It’s a great place to go and get away from the hustle and bustle of town life without having to jump in your car. The site is near to Wycombe General Hospital and the busy Marlow Hill. Despite its urban backdrop and isolation from the wider countryside, it is an oasis for wildlife. The site has a wide range of important habitats including chalk grassland, scrub and woodland with plenty of dead wood for wildlife.

Full training will be given. There are no set hours for this role but if you are able to visit the site every fortnight that would be amazing.

About Chiltern Rangers

Here at Chiltern Rangers, our mission is to enhance the Chilterns’ habitats through conservation, education and community engagement.

We work with local communities to provide habitat management in Buckinghamshire and the Chilterns. You will find us in the woodlands, chalk grasslands, commons, ponds and chalk streams. We also manage 13 nature reserves for Buckinghamshire Council.

Our work can only be achieved with the help of our volunteers – people of all ages, abilities and backgrounds, plus community organisations, charities, social enterprises, schools & colleges. We would love you to be part of our team.
