Summary
Become a Chiltern Rangers Conservation Volunteer! We work closely with our community to enhance the Chiltern's habitats and would love you to come and join us!Detailed description
Our mission at Chiltern Rangers is to enhance the Chilterns’ habitats through conservation, education and community engagement.
Our conservation volunteers will join us in in High Wycombe as well as further afield in Buckinghamshire and the Chilterns. You will work with us in our local nature reserves, woodlands, chalk grasslands, commons, ponds and chalk streams. We need volunteers most week days (except Wednesdays), all help is greatly appreciated and no experience is needed. You can give as much or as little time as you can – stay for an hour or the whole day!
Our work is very seasonal and tasks are very varied, probably no two days will ever be the same! In the autumn & winter we will be out in the woods or on chalk grasslands and heaths. We clear scrub, cut, fell and drink tea by a roaring bonfire. We create habitat piles, maintain paths and tackle invasive species such as Laurel and Rhododendron.
In the spring & summer paths need to be kept clear and open, woodchip can be made and laid on paths. We will focus on our rivers - making sure they are clean, planting extra bankside vegetation to improve the habitat for wildlife and protecting the bank from erosion.
We love meeting people from all walks of life, all ages and abilities. Everyone is welcome. It’s our ambition to make sure that everyone who gives their time to us feels valued, understood and proud to be part of Chiltern Rangers.
By sharing your skills and time, you will help Chiltern Rangers benefit so many more places and people than we otherwise would be able to, and we couldn’t do it without you.
No experience is necessary, all training will be given just bring your 'can-do' attitude and we are ready to go!
