Summary

We are looking for personable volunteers who are able to help us with our fun festive fundraiser for between one and four days in January 2025.

Detailed description

We are ideally looking for volunteers who have a driving licence and own a van or large vehicle, although this is not essential. If you are volunteering as an individual, you will be paired with another volunteer.

On the collection days, Child Bereavement UK staff and volunteers will be driving around Buckinghamshire and Berkshire collecting people’s real used Christmas trees from their driveways in return for a donation. The trees will be delivered to a central base where they will then be chipped and recycled. Light refreshments will be provided for volunteers on the day.

If you, or someone you know would like to book a tree collection in return for a donation.

Volunteering location and dates

Our collections will take place from 9am to 5pm each day from Thursday 9 to Sunday 12 January 2025, and our base will be Wooburn & Bourne End Local Parish Council Offices, Town Lane, Wooburn Green, High Wycombe, Bucks, HP10 0PJ.

Volunteer requirements

Ideally we are looking for volunteers who have a driving licence and own a van or large vehicle, although this is not essential.

As well as being friendly, able to work well with others and happy to follow instructions, volunteers for this role will need to physically able to lift and move potentially large Christmas trees and will ideally have knowledge of the local area and/or access to Google maps/navigation system.

Support given

We will provide full training on what to do on the day and how to use the routing app as well as gloves, goggles and a Child Bereavement UK branded t-shirt to wear during your shift. All volunteers will be given an overview of the charity and the work that we do.

What you’ll get out of the experience

This is a fun and different volunteering experience, ideal for individuals, groups or companies wanting to give something back and support Child Bereavement UK.

About Child Bereavement UK

Child Bereavement UK helps families to rebuild their lives when a child grieves or when a child dies. We support children and young people (up to the age of 25) when someone important to them has died or is not expected to live, and parents and the wider family when a baby or child of any age dies or is dying.

We offer free, confidential bereavement support for individuals, couples, children, young people, and families, by telephone, video or instant messenger, wherever you live in the UK. We also offer face-to-face support from a number of locations.
