Support members with sight loss by maintaining contact, coordinating transport, visiting, and assisting with events to foster connection and community.

Detailed description

Title Link Officer

Where?

Supporting members in the Denham or Iver area.

What you will be doing?

·       Liaising with the Referral Secretary to maintain a register of members in the area and keeping in touch by phone with:

·       Non-club-attending members at least annually.

·       Active club members at least quarterly.

·       Visiting club members who may be absent due to health or other reasons and notifying the Referral Secretary of any changes in member status (deaths, moves, contact updates, etc.).

·       Organising and, ideally, participating in transportation for members to Stoke Poges and Burnham club sessions (1-2 times per month).

·       Representing the Division by visiting members in poor health, celebrating birthdays, presenting centenary bouquets, and attending funerals, as needed.

·       Coordinating with club volunteers to assist with outings, pop-up activities, and annual events.

·       Assisting with “doorstep deliveries” for members unable to attend events (e.g., Christmas and summer party deliveries).

·       Collecting and delivering equipment to members or next of kin as required.

·       Attending divisional committee meetings (4 times per year) and an annual half-day training session.

·       Participating in local fundraising and community awareness events, distributing flyers, and connecting with potential volunteers and members.

This role will require a Disclosure and Barring Check (Enhanced), as it involves supporting vulnerable people in a 1-2-1 basis.
