Summary

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual who can host, and arrange talks for, the Men's Den, Marlow Library's weekly social club for men.

Detailed description

Marlow Library is looking for a volunteer to host the Men's Den, a social club exclusively for men, which will take place every week on Friday mornings from 11am-12pm.

We would also appreciate it if the volunteer would be able to co-ordinate and arrange talks and visits from guest speakers.

Our Men's Den is a relaxed and friendly weekly drop-in session exclusively for men. It provides men with the opportunity to meet others, converse with new friends, discuss and learn more about a variety of subjects (for example: sport, history, travel, well-being and healthy eating), and enjoy visits from the occasional guest speaker.

As part of the role you will be required:

  • To assist with the setting up process for activities and help to ensure a safe and comfortable environment.
  • To meet and greet visitors
  • To run and/or assist with the delivery of the Men's Den sessions on Friday mornings, and arrange for guest speakers.
  • Tasks will be carried out in a public environment.
  • Men's Den Sessions last for 1 hour.
  • To signpost queries from members of the public to the appropriate member of staff.
  • To take part in an induction process.
  • To be aware of Buckinghamshire Council’s aims, organisational values and behaviours and their impact on this role.
  • To carry out the duties of this role in accordance with the Council’s policies in respect of diversity and community cohesion

Skills required:

  • Good communicator and comfortable engaging with people, including those with additional needs
  • An interest and awareness of library services and early years development would be beneficial.
  • Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team.
