Summary

An opportunity to carry out practical conservation tasks around this nature reserve near Wendover. This friendly group meets on the second Sunday of each month.

Detailed description

The work parties carry out a wide range of practical tasks to maintain and enhance the reserve performing a wide range of tasks, which might include fencing, scrub clearance, vegetation cutting, grassland mowing, coppicing, path maintenance, hide painting, access works, and assisting with livestock.

Work parties run on the second Sunday of the month. No experience necessary, but enthusiasm is important. Training provided for all practical tasks.

Volunteering with this group will giv you the chance to be actively involved at one of BBOWT’s reserves and contribute to the conservation of habitats and species. You would learn new skills and get to know the dedicated, friendly team of other volunteers whilst keeping fit doing a range of practical activities. BBOWT arranges annual thank-you events with opportunities to meet other volunteers and staff and hear about the activities and strategies of the Berks, Bucks and Oxon Wildlife Trust. We also have an email newsletter for volunteers called Grapevine.

About Berkshire, Buckinghamshire & Oxfordshire Wildlife Trust (BBOWT)

BBOWT is the only voluntary organisation in the region concerned with all aspects of nature conservation. We give wildlife a helping hand to ensure it thrives in our three counties. As well as managing our nature reserves, this includes monitoring species and running special projects to support declining species such as water voles, or threatened habitats such as chalk grassland. We also advise other landowners about how to care for habitats and species.
