Summary

We are looking for enthusiastic local people to assist in the regular conservation management of the reserve, and help protect local wildlife.

Detailed description

Practical work includes path cutting and maintenance; scrub clearance and hedge-laying; reedbed work; meadow cutting and management; hide maintenance; lichen heath management.

The group meets on the third Thursday of every month, 9:30 to 3:00pm with breaks.

You will need to have a willingness to learn, a suitable level of fitness to be working outdoors, plus the ability to work as part of a team and be happy to be out in all weathers.

As a volunteer you would be given access to BBOWT’s e-newsletter called Grapevine and you would be invited to annual thank-you events with opportunities to meet other volunteers and staff and hear about the activities and strategies of the Berks, Bucks and Oxon Wildlife Trust.

About Berkshire, Buckinghamshire & Oxfordshire Wildlife Trust (BBOWT)

BBOWT is the only voluntary organisation in the region concerned with all aspects of nature conservation. We give wildlife a helping hand to ensure it thrives in our three counties. As well as managing our nature reserves, this includes monitoring species and running special projects to support declining species such as water voles, or threatened habitats such as chalk grassland. We also advise other landowners about how to care for habitats and species.
