Summary

Skilled mechanical repairers required for the Aylesbury Wombles Repair Cafe!

Detailed description

Aylesbury's brand new Repair Cafe, hosted by The Aylesbury Wombles!

We're excited to announce a brand new Repair Cafe. Taking place once a month on a Saturday AM (Concrete dates and times TBC) in Aylesbury, we're looking for skilled volunteers in order to bring the project to life.

As a skilled volunteer, you'll be helping out residents with small-scale repairs of portable items, and by doing so becoming a champion of community support and sustainability!

At the minute we would ask that volunteers bring their own tools to the repair cafe, however we may be able to supply some with enough notice and if they are available to borrow for the dates/times needed.

We're on the lookout for skilled mechanical repairers to help with repairing the mechanical components of items - vinyl players, clocks, maybe a wind-up toy - whatever gets brought into the café!

We are always looking for a range of volunteers to help, so if you're able to repair something that isn't currently featured in our listing then please email us and let us know what you can help with.

About Aylesbury Wombles Repair Café

The Aylesbury Wombles presents Aylesbury's Repair Cafe!
The Aylesbury Wombles Repair Café is a place where people can bring their broken items for repair by skilled volunteers, supporting the mantra of 'reduce, reuse, repair, recycle'. If you have a shirt that has a tear, a lawnmower that's not working, a broken table, a plushie missing an eye - Anything, really! - we hope that you head to the repair cafe to try and bring it back to life over throwing it away.
We're always looking for skilled volunteers to help as the heart of the café. If you're a Seamstresses, woodworker, mechanical engineer or qualified electrical engineers then we need you!! We're also aware of the huge array of other skills that people can bring, so if you can fix something please let us know as we'd love to look at as many ways to repair things as possible! We would also be looking for people to help with any refreshments, as well as the general running on the day.
As a volunteer, you'd be providing a huge service to the community and the environment; by supporting people who are unable to repair items themselves, helping them save money from having to buy new, keeping items out of landfill, extending their lifecycle and reducing the need for more items to be made from scratch.
Our plan is to run the café once a month on a Saturday for around 3 hours in the morning, and our venue has been supplied by the wonderful Legacy Funeral Directors, 46 Buckingham Street.
If you're interested in helping the café then please email [email protected] and keep an eye on the Aylesbury Wombles Facebook page.
