About Aylesbury Community Pride 

  • Aylesbury Community Pride is a “CIC” - Community Interest Company. 
  • A community interest company is a type of company introduced by the United Kingdom government in 2005 under the Companies Act 2004, designed for social enterprises where there is a wish to use their profits and assets for the public good.
  • Founded in September 2023, Aylesbury Community Pride was set out to:
  • Prepare, plan and provide a Community Pride event for Aylesbury Town. 
  • Boost visibility, understanding and empathy for the LGBTQ+ community. 
  • Provide a safe space for the queer community in Aylesbury. 
  • Based on the 2021 census “(3.2%) identified as gay, lesbian, bisexual, or another sexual orientation” meaning it is estimated that 2,814 people in Aylesbury identify as LGBTQ+. 
  • The Aylesbury Community Pride logo features arrows in multiple colors, a reference to Aylesbury town’s coat of arms and motto “semper prorsum.” Translated to the general meaning of “always forward”, this phrase serves as the organization's foundation of striving for progress in the LGBTQ+ community. 
  • All roles within the Aylesbury Community Pride are voluntary. 

Role Characteristics 

  • Financial qualifications or ability. 
  • Some experience of charity or company finance management. 
  • Confident and honest communication style. 

Role Responsibilities

  • Overseeing, approving and presenting budgets, accounts and financial statements. 
  • Ensuring the financial resources of the organisation meet its present and future needs.
  • Ensuring that the charity has an appropriate reserves policy.
  • Preparing and presenting financial reports to the Senior Leadership Team. 
  • Ensuring that appropriate accounting procedures and controls are in place.
  • Liaising with project team in regards to project spend, mainly Pride in the Park. 
  • Managing projected spend of projects and ensuring budget is upheld. 
  • Ensuring that there is no conflict between investments and the aims and objects of the charity including maintaining the organisation’s ethical funding policy and legal requirements. 
  • Paying supplier invoices and managing outgoing invoices e.g. stall holder fees after events. 
  • Ensuring that the accounts are prepared and disclosed in the form required by funders and the relevant statutory bodies. 
  • Keeping the board informed about its financial duties and responsibilities. 
  • Contributing to the fundraising strategy of the organisation.
  • Making a formal presentation of the accounts at the annual general meeting. Drawing attention to important points in a way that’s coherent and easily to understand.

General 

  • Volunteers must uphold the organization's values at all times. 
  • Required of all roles: 
  • Storage of files and documents in the official google drive. 
  • A google email address to do the above. 
  • An ACP email address will be issued to you for communications. 
  • Commit to attending regular online committee meetings with the occasional in person meeting.

About Aylesbury Community Pride CIC

We aim to increase empathy, visibility and celebration for the LGBTQ+ community in Aylesbury and the surrounding areas. We do this through connecting communities and bringing people together via our
annual events programme. The headliner of which is "Pride in the Park". An event that provides free entertainment, education and opportunity to people of all ages and identities.

Pride in the Park's programme includes three stages:

Main & discovery stage - traditional entertainment, local acts
Education stage - featuring guests from the local community speaking about their lived experience as well as a range of local organisations offering free support
