Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Volunteer Gardener to assist in the renovation and upkeep of our garden.

Detailed description

This role also involves creating a sensory garden to provide a stimulating and therapeutic environment for our children and young people with disabilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Garden Renovation: Assist in the planning and execution of garden renovation projects, including planting, landscaping, and general maintenance.
  • Upkeep and Maintenance: Regularly maintain the garden by watering plants, weeding, pruning, and ensuring the overall health of the garden.
  • Sensory Garden Creation: Collaborate with our team to design and create a sensory garden that includes plants and features to stimulate the senses (sight, smell, touch, and sound).
  • Accessibility: Ensure the garden is accessible and safe for children and young people with disabilities.


Qualifications:

  • Gardening Experience: Previous experience in gardening, landscaping is desirable.
  • Passion for Inclusion: A genuine interest in supporting children and young people with disabilities and creating inclusive environments.
  • Creativity: Ability to design and implement creative gardening solutions, particularly for sensory stimulation.
  • Team Player: Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with staff.
  • Reliability: Commitment to regular attendance and the ability to work independently when needed.

About Action for Children

We work with families and children aged 0-19 who have a disability and need additional support. We offer short breaks for children who can take part in fun activities and group activities, appropriate for all ages and disabilities, with experienced staff to support them.

Bucks Activity Project provides quality short break activities to support children and young people to take part in activities across Buckinghamshire County.
